Our pineapple paloma is a creative spin on a class paloma, which is traditionally made with grapefruit juice. We love a good paloma and we love the sweet flavor of fresh pineapple juice, so we decided to combine the two. This pineapple paloma is refreshing and light, making it perfect for enjoying on a warm spring or summer day. The bright yellow pineapple juice gives it a pop of color, which also gives it that spring and summer vibe. Pineapple juice is typically pretty sweet but the addition of fresh lime juice gives a subtle acidity that cuts the sweetness. A little bit of simple syrup and Topo Chico finish it off and we love saving a few pieces of fresh pineapple and lime wedges to use as a garnish!
High quality ingredients make a great paloma
We always always always recommend using high quality ingredients in any recipe. This is true for cocktails - you want to use high quality liquor and mixers. Store bought pineapple juice is good but fresh pineapple juice is great. Investing in a simple juicer will go a loooong way, trust us! Using fresh ingredients to make your cocktails will noticeably improve the taste. You also want to use high quality liquor in your cocktails. For this pineapple paloma or any tequila cocktail, we love using Casamigos. We recommend using a blanco tequila for this cocktail. A good tequila goes a long way when making drinks!
Pineapple Paloma Recipe FAQ
Margaritas use triple sec or cointreau to give them a little sweetness, whereas palomas traditionally use grapefruit juice or soda to give it some sweetness. Our recipe uses pineapple juice as well as a little simple syrup.
We recommend a blanco tequila because it pairs well with the citrus juices.
Sure! This will obviously take away some of the sweetness but pineapple juice can be sweet on its own. You can also use a lemon lime soda in lieu of Topo Chico to give it some sweetness instead of simple syrup.
Whenever you want! This recipe is a great spring or summer cocktail. It's very refreshing and light.
That is totally okay. If you are using store-bought juice, we recommend you look for any juice that is 100% fruit juice and has no added sugars.
