    Hey! I'm Lauren, a registered dietitian who's passionate about creating healthy, nutritious, and approachable recipes and nutrition content. What started as a foodie Instagram page, The Perfect Pear was originally created by myself and my finace, Zach (hence, "pear"!) to share our food adventures. We met in grad school at Florida State in 2014, where we received degrees in Sports Nutrition, and have been together ever since. We're both performance dietitians by trade and are huge foodies. We love traveling, trying new restaurants, cooking, baking, watching TV shows together, working out, and creating fun cocktails.

    My goal for this platform is to share recipes that I've slightly modified to improve nutrition quality without compromising taste. As dietitians, we strive to eat a high quality, whole foods-based diet the majority of the time. However, part of a well-rounded diet includes some tasty, traditional recipes!

    In addition to cooking and baking (and eating), I am very passionate about nutrition. Having worked in multiple performance settings including LSU, the Chicago Bears, Florida State, EXOS, and Military Special Operations, I have seen firsthand how nutrition impacts our bodies. My hope is to help guide you in making the best food decisions for you, whether it be physically or mentally (because food is an emotional thing as well!).

    Lastly, I want to share a quick caveat that aligns with my nutrition philosophy: most of the recipes on The Perfect Pear fall under the high quality, whole foods, "healthy" category. However, you'll find some that are downright delicious and may contain traditionally "unhealthy" ingredients. And that's okay! As cliché as it sounds, everything in moderation is okay. I hope to inspire you to understand and find ways to nutritionally improve your food choices while enjoying yourself!
