This matcha latte recipe with oat milk is a winner if you're a matcha fan! Oat milk gives this latte a creamy flavor and is a great substitute for dairy milks if you're dairy- or gluten-free!

Matcha Latte Ingredients
Obviously this matcha latte recipe calls for matcha powder and oat milk. I prefer using a high-quality matcha, which should be smooth and powder-like. Matcha is high in antioxidants like vitamin C and selenium, and contains some caffeine, so it's a great way to start your morning. If you haven't had matcha before, it's a strong green tea that can have an earthy flavor. I'd recommend adding a little sweetness if you're new to matcha!
You can use any milk in lieu of oat milk in this recipe. You could also omit milk altogether and use all water! I just love the creaminess of oat, soy, or cow's milk in any latte. I typically purchase unsweetened milks so if you want to add some sweetness to the matcha latte, you can add a drizzle of honey or sprinkle of Stevia!
To add unique flavors, I'll add a sprinkle of ground ginger and ground turmeric. This adds a subtle spice as well as more antioxidants to your matcha latte!
Iced Matcha Latte
Iced matcha lattes are just as delicious as hot matcha lattes, especially during the summer when it's hot outside. To make this matcha latte recipe with oat milk iced, simply let the hot water + matcha mixture cool down to room temperature (or cool down as long as you can if you can't wait that long!) and pour over ice. You don't have to wait for it to get to room temp but pouring the hot water + matcha directly over ice will cause the ice to melt quickly and may water down the matcha.
Once the matcha is over ice, stir in the frothed milk and spices. Now you have a delicious, creamy iced matcha latte!
Ingredient Higlights - Matcha Latte Recipe with Oat Milk
- Matcha powder - I use a high quality matcha powder whenever I make matcha lattes. This ensures a silky, traditional green tea flavor. Plus it's loaded with antioxidants!
- Oat milk - oat milk is a creamy, plant-based milk made from oats. I typically buy unsweetened milks but feel free to use a sweetened version if you prefer. If you're gluten-free, be sure to purchase an oat milk that is certified gluten-free! You can also substitute any milk you'd like here.
- Spices - my go-to spices in this matcha latte recipe are ground ginger and turmeric because the warm spices compliment the earthy green tea flavor of the matcha. You can also add cinnamon and nutmeg, or omit the spices altogether!
Recipe FAQ
Since oat milk is creamier and a little sweeter than other plant-based milks, it goes well in a matcha latte. However, if you love matcha lattes, any milk will work!
Whisk matcha powder with a little bit of water to remove any clumps (you can also sift the matcha). Pour in hot water and continue mixing. In a separate cup/mug, froth milk with desired spices (ginger, turmeric, cinnamon, etc.). Pour frothed milk over matcha and enjoy!
Matcha is ground green tea leaves so it is bright green and has a strong green tea flavor. It's grassy and earthy so some people prefer to add some sweetness to their matcha lattes. It is naturally high in caffeine so it's a good alternative to coffee if you're looking to switch things up!
