Why You'll Love This Iced Salted Caramel Latte
Not only does this iced salted caramel latte taste amazing, it's extremely easy to make and comes together in just a few easy steps. It calls for four simple ingredients that come together to make a sweet, salty, and creamy caffeinated beverage you will love!
This healthier recipe also uses a homemade date caramel recipe instead of a traditional caramel sauce. This boosts the nutrient content of this homemade latte by adding some fiber, potassium, magnesium, and more while reducing added sugars!

Equipment
- Milk frother - this is definitely worth it if you make iced or hot lattes at home and want to bring them to the next level.
- Liquid measuring cup (2 cups) - this is easy to froth the milk, caramel sauce, and sea salt in, and then pour over the iced espresso!
- Tall glass - or whatever you want to drink this delicious latte out of!
Ingredients
Full ingredients, measurements, and instructions can be found in the recipe card at the bottom of this post.

- Espresso - high quality espresso will take this iced caramel coffee to the next level. However, you can use instant espresso, cold brew coffee, or even your normal morning cup of coffee! I just recommend using a strong brewed coffee to get maximum coffee flavor.
- Milk of your choice - any milk or milk alternatives will work here!
- Date caramel - I love this homemade version of caramel because it's all natural sugar (with some extra nutrients from the dates). It's perfect for making your own iced caramel lattes as well as dipping apple slices into or swirling into yogurt!
- Sea salt - a touch of sea salt gives this iced salted caramel latte that delicious sweet and salty flavor!
How to Make

1: In a small jar, mug, or cup, froth the milk of your choice, caramel sauce, and sea salt until fully combined and foamy.

2: Fill a tall glass ¾ of the way with ice (or coffee ice cubes! See "Pro Tips" section below) and pour 1-2 shots of espresso over top.

3: Pour salted caramel milk on top and enjoy!
Variations & Substitutions
- You can use your milk of choice in this recipe: cow's milk (skim, low-fat, or even whole milk) or any non-dairy milk like unsweetened almond milk, oat milk, soy milk, cashew milk, coconut milk, etc.
- If you want this iced caramel latte recipe to resemble Dunkin' Donuts (but with less added sugar and overall calories), you can still add a splash of heavy cream to give this latte an extra creamy flavor and texture!
Pro Tips
- Definitely invest in a milk frother! It really helps the milk foam up nicely and elevates at-home lattes. It thoroughly combines the date paste, milk, and sea salt in this recipe.
- If you don't have a fancy espresso machine, you can use instant espresso! All you have to do is add hot water. (I will say high quality espresso will be much better!)
- I love using this homemade caramel sauce because it's made from dates, so it's a healthier alternative to traditional caramel sauces or caramel-flavored simple syrup!
- I recommend using an unsweetened milk (if using a non-dairy milk) so you can control the amount of sugar that goes into this creamy iced caramel latte.
- If you're a slow coffee drinker like me and don't want the ice to water down the salted caramel iced latte, you can make coffee ice cubes! Simply pour room temperature coffee into an ice cube tray and freeze overnight to use as ice cubes in this recipe!

How to Make a Hot Salted Caramel Latte
To make the hot version of this recipe, simply follow the instructions on the recipe below but skip the step of pouring ice into a glass! You can make the hot espresso in a mug and then pour the salted caramel milk (after you've mixed/frothed it) into the mug and enjoy!
Recipe FAQ
Unless using a sugar-free syrup or flavoring, there will be some sort of sugar in an iced caramel latte! I love this iced caramel latte recipe because it uses date caramel, which although contains sugar, is more of a natural sugar from the dates, which also contribute nutrients like potassium, magnesium, and fiber!
That's totally okay! You can simply use any sweetener you'd like. I'd recommend honey or maple syrup as these are also more natural sugars. Brown sugar would also work but it may take a minute to dissolve in the milk!
Yes! You could use 6-8 ounces of black strong brewed coffee in lieu of espresso to make this iced coffee. You may need a larger glass to hold the extra volume of liquid and the coffee flavor may not be as strong as espresso but it'll still be delicious!

This latte was so good! I definitely needed the frother to really combine the caramel and milk, otherwise it was a little chunky. The sea salt is a nice touch.
