A southside fizz cocktail is a refreshing cocktail made with gin, fresh lemon juice, fresh lime juice, jalapeno simple syrup, and fresh mint leaves, topped off with soda water to give it the "fizz." It's kind of like a gin mojito mixed with a tom collins, so if you like either, this will be your new favorite cocktail recipe!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 6 fresh mint leaves
  • 2 ounces gin
  • 1 ounce jalapeno simple syrup
  • 1 ounch fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 ounch fresh lime juice
  • 2 ounces soda water

Instructions

  1. Muddle fresh mint leaves in a cocktail shaker.
  2. Add gin, syrup, and fresh juices. Shake until combined, ~5-10 seconds. Set aside.
  3. Fill cocktail glass halfway with ice.
  4. Pour cocktail over ice and add soda water.
  5. Garnish with a mint leaf and enjoy!

Notes

  • You can use regular or zero sugar ginger ale in lieu of club soda to give this south side fizz a ginger flavor!
  • We are obsessed with Empress Gin because of the vibrant purple color but you can use a dry gin if you prefer a less sweeter gin.
  • I love using lower sugar jalapeno simple syrup because it's a lower sugar syrup compared to a lot of commercial options! However, you can use any syrup you'd like, or even honey!
