This simple 4-ingredient guacamole recipe is the perfect dip made from healthy, basic ingredients. It's such an easy guacamole recipe that comes together in just minutes and can be part of a perfect snack, along with my favorite tortilla chips (and they're healthy!).


Units Scale
  • 6 ripe hass avocados
  • 1/2 cup (45g) diced red onion
  • 1/4 cup (16g) finely chopped fresh cilantro
  • 2 Tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 1 Tablespoon table salt (optional)


  1. Slice avocados in half and remove pits.
  2. Spoon flesh of avocado out of its skin and put in a large mixing bowl with remaining ingredients.
  3. Using a potato masher, mash to your liking (more mashing = smoother guac, less mashing = chunkier guac).
  4. Serve with chips, veggies, or on your favorite dish and enjoy!


  • It takes some planning but if you have unripe avocados, store then in a brown paper bag with bananas and/or apples. The gases released from the fruit will help to expedite avocado ripening!
  • Sprinkle extra lime juice on top of the guacamole to prevent brown spots from showing up.
  • This avocado dip can be left at room temperature for 4 hours but should be refrigeratored soon after to prevent it from spoiling.
  • I highly recommend eating this fresh for best results but it can be made the day before. I would be sure to store it in an airtight container to make sure minimal air gets in to oxidize, or gives it that brown color, the avocados. You could also put a piece of plastic wrap on the surface of the guacamole to take it a step further!
