    Homemade Healthy Ranch Dip

    Ranch goes well on so many things - salad, wings, pizza, raw veggies, and more. As dietitians, we love to play around with our food and find ways to improve the nutrient composition without sacrificing taste and flavor. And that's how our homemade healthy ranch dip recipe was born.

    Typical Ranch is eaten on/with various foods, including veggies. By having this Ranch and pre-cut veggies in your fridge, you promise you will eat more veggies. Or at least think about it. Baby steps.

    Our recipe is made with just two ingredients. It can't get any easier than that, right?! All you gotta do is mix plain (not vanilla; we're talking about the tart, original, plain) Greek yogurt with Ranch seasoning. In case you didn't know, Ranch seasoning comes in packets (or a big container if you're a Costco or Sam's kinda person) and is sold in the salad dressing aisle.

    What makes our recipe healthy?

    In addition to the homemade healthy Ranch dip recipe being super simple, we love the nutrition benefits it provides over the store-bought bottle. Greek yogurt is a good source of protein, which promotes satiety to keep us fuller longer. Along with protein, Greek yogurt is a source of probiotics, which are healthy bacteria that live in our gut. It's important to have a healthy gut to keep us regular, control inflammation, digest food, and strengthen our immune system.

    We love to bring this to potlucks because most potluck-style meals, although delicious, tend to be heavy. This homemade healthy Ranch dip pairs perfectly with raw veggies and is always a big hit. Our favorite veggies to dip are cucumbers, bell peppers, carrots, broccoli, and celery! This combo also makes a great mid-afternoon snack or even side dish with a meal!

    Ingredients

    Scale
    • 2 cups plain, low-fat Greek yogurt
    • 2 packets Ranch seasoning

    Instructions

    1. Combine Greek yogurt with Ranch seasoning in a medium mixing bowl.
    2. Mix well.
    3. Enjoy with fresh veggies, baked chicken wings, or buffalo cauliflower!

    Notes

    • Keep in refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
    • Bring to your next potluck or tailgate!
