Why You'll Love This Greek Yogurt Buffalo Chicken Dip
Greek yogurt is a great substitute for sour cream in this healthy buffalo chicken dip recipe. It adds more protein and probiotics, while lowering the saturated fat content. But not compromising on flavor!
Plus it's an easy way to sneak in some veggies like shredded carrots and celery without even noticing.
*Note: I highly recommend using low/reduced fat dairy alternatives as opposed to completely fat free. Fat free dairy will alter the taste and texture of the low fat buffalo chicken dip!

Equipment
- Large mixing bowl - a large bowl is needed to thoroughly combine all of the ingredients.
- 8x8" baking dish - the perfect size baking dish to make this Greek yogurt buffalo chicken dip!
Ingredients
Full ingredients, measurements, and instructions can be found in the recipe card at the bottom of this post.

- Chicken breast - packed with lean protein, chicken breast is one of the main ingredients in this healthy recipe! About two large chicken breasts should be plenty. You can use leftover chicken and shred it, or used canned chicken breast if you prefer. I usually make Instant Pot shredded chicken because it's so easy!
- Low-fat cream cheese - typically full fat cream cheese is used, but I like to use low-fat to cut down on saturated fat but not flavor and texture. Low-fat cream cheese is also called Neufchatel cheese so if you see that at the grocery store, that's it!
- Low-fat plain Greek yogurt - another low-fat ingredient that adds flavor and texture, but also protein and probiotics! I like to use low-fat over fat-free because nonfat Greek yogurt can be chalky.
- Low-fat shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheeses - this adds to the gooey-ness of this buffalo chicken dip.
- Buffalo sauce or hot sauce - using a good buffalo sauce is important in this recipe to give it that classic buffalo flavor!
- Finely diced celery and shredded carrots - these are veggies that blend right in and basically melt into the dip. I love finding ways to sneak veggies into recipes to make them healthier and this is the perfect way!
- Ranch seasoning - ranch seasoning is an easy way to add things like garlic powder and onion powder but all in one.

Variations & Substitutions
- You can leave out the shredded carrots and celery if you prefer.
- You can substitute low-fat cottage cheese for plain Greek yogurt!
- Rotisserie chicken is an easy option instead of making shredded chicken at home in the slow cooker or Instant Pot.
- Mozzarella cheese is a good "melty" cheese you can sprinkle on top in addition to or instead of cheddar cheese!

Pro Tips
For best results with this easy buffalo chicken dip recipe, I recommend using low fat Greek yogurt, low fat cream cheese, and low fat cheese instead of nonfat Greek yogurt, cream cheese, or shredded cheese. Having some fat adds to the mouthfeel of the dip and fat free can make it chalky.
Storing, Serving, & Making Ahead
- STORING: Store leftover buffalo chicken dip in an airtight container for up to 3 days in the refrigerator or freezer for up to 2 months.
- SERVING: This is a great football season tailgate, Super Bowl party, or potluck recipe for your next party! I love serving this delicious dip in the baking dish I baked it in and sprinkling with sliced green onions and/or blue cheese crumbles. My favorite snacks to serve with it are:
- Cucumber slices
- Celery sticks
- Baby carrots
- Homemade tortilla chips or pita chips
- MAKING AHEAD: This recipe is so easy to make ahead of time. Simply follow the instructions in the recipe card below until you get to the step where you sprinkle low-fat cheddar cheese on top. Wrap the casserole dish in plastic wrap and store in the refrigerator until you're ready to serve. Before serving, sprinkle with extra cheese and bake at 375 degrees for 40-50 minutes!

Cold Buffalo Chicken Dip
If you enjoy cold buffalo chicken dip, you can totally use this recipe! All of the ingredients are cooked to begin with, so once combined, you're able to dig in. You can also bake according to the directions below and then let get to room temp before refrigerating to chill, and enjoying! I recommend doing this so that the cheese melts and carrots and celery soften.
I would suggest letting the mixture sit for a few hours or overnight, just to let the flavors really set in!

Recipe FAQ
Technically, yes you can. However, I advise against it. Fat free dairy will affect the taste and texture of the dip so I recommend using low/reduced fat dairy!
I recommend storing Greek yogurt buffalo chicken dip in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Yes! I recommend freezing it in an airtight container for up to 2 months. To reheat, bake it in the oven at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes, or until bubbly and hot!
I would pop the buffalo chicken dip back into the oven for another 15-20 minutes and recheck! It may help to chop the carrots and celery even smaller so they're sure to cook and soften.
