    Healthy Buffalo Chicken Dip

This healthy buffalo chicken dip is lower in fat than traditional recipes but definitely doesn't skimp on flavor! It's a great appetizer, dish for a potluck, or Superbowl/tailgate snack.

    Low Fat Buffalo Chicken Dip

Classic buffalo chicken dips usually contain ingredients like cream cheese, ranch dressing, a mixture of cheese, and more. These things tend to be higher in saturated fat (if you want to learn more about the types of fat, click here!). In order to maintain the same delicious flavor, I use reduced fat versions of some of these ingredients to create a low fat buffalo chicken dip.

This healthy buffalo chicken dip recipe calls for reduced fat cream cheese, reduced fat mozzarella cheese, ranch seasoning instead of dressing, low fat Greek yogurt, and reduced fat cheddar cheese for sprinkling on top if you desire!

*Note: I highly recommend using low/reduced fat dairy alternatives as opposed to completely fat free. Fat free dairy will alter the taste and texture of the low fat buffalo chicken dip!

    Cold Buffalo Chicken Dip

If you enjoy cold buffalo chicken dip, you can totally use this recipe! All of the ingredients are cooked to begin with, so once combined, you're able to dig in. You can also bake according to the directions below and then let get to room temp before refrigerating to chill, and enjoying! I recommend doing this so that the cheese melts and carrots and celery soften.

I would suggest letting the mixture sit for a few hours or overnight, just to let the flavors really set in!

Low Fat Buffalo Chicken Dip Ingredient Highlights

    • Chicken - you can use canned or shred you own at home. I'm a big fan of shredding chicken at hoe using this recipe! It's super simple and takes under 30 minutes. I'll prep this ahead of time so it's ready to go when I start assembling the dip.
    • Buffalo sauce - what's buffalo chicken dip without buffalo sauce?!
    • Low fat Greek yogurt - not only does this add a tangy creaminess to the buffalo chicken dip, but some protein and probiotics!
    • Reduced fat cheeses - cheese is a must in this dip and in order to cut back on saturated fat, I use low/reduced fat mozzarella and cheddar cheeses!
    • Ranch seasoning - this adds a classic ranch flavor (but a lower fat alternative than ranch dressing). You can buy it in a bottle or individual packets in the salad dressing section at the grocery store!
    • Shredded carrots - of course I'm going to sneak veggies into things when I can! 🙂 Shredded carrots essentially dissolve into the dip and you don't even realize they're there but you get nutrients like vitamin A and fiber!

How to Make Healthy Buffalo Chicken Dip

    Recipe FAQ

Can you use fat free dairy to make healthy buffalo chicken dip?

Technically, yes you can. However, I advise against it. Fat free dairy will affect the taste and texture of the dip so I recommend using low/reduced fat dairy!

What do you serve with healthy buffalo chicken dip?

I love serving this buffalo chicken dip with celery sticks, baby carrots, bell pepper strips, and/or tortilla chips!

How do you reheat low fat buffalo chicken dip?

This is an easy recipe to make ahead of time. Simply make the dip according to the recipe below and stop just before sprinkling any cheese on top before baking. Wrap with foil or plastic wrap and store in the fridge until you're ready to bake. Then pick back up in the recipe and that's it!
